Propecia
If you suffer from male pattern baldness, which in a lot of cases can be hereditary then you no longer need to worry about wearing a wig, as now there is a drug, called Propecia for hair loss. The drug is taken orally and you should see over time an increase in scalp hair count and hair re-growth.
In over 80% of men who took Propecia results were seen and numerous studies have taken place which look at the efficiency of Propecia with overall improvements with hair coverage seen as quickly as three months. Not only that taking the drug also led to a decrease in hair loss as well as a significantly increased rate of re-growth, which were sustained for up t two year with continuous use of Propecia.
Propecia is actually the brand name for finasteride, which acts to inhibit the conversion of the androgen (male hormone) testosterone into 5-alpha-dihydrotesterone (DHT), in the hair follicles of males there is a tiny amount of DHT. Male pattern baldness occurs when the amount of DHT contained in each follicle increases and Propecia works by reversing this process through its inhibitory action and decreases the amount of DHT in the hair follicle and in the blood stream.
In some clinical studies adverse reactions to the drug were found but were noted as rare, the most common adverse reaction was decreased libido that appeared to occur in less than 2.0% of men taking this medicine and would stop once the medication was stopped.
